Lynda's Now a Missionary!

Everyone Loves the Aquarium of the Pacific!

When we got to the aquaruim we stopped to eat lunch before we went in. They have a great water fountain.  Its really nice to be by the ocean but watch out for the pigeons they will steal you blind!  Doesn't Summer have great balance!!!!
When we got to the aquarium we saw some really awesome fish. Where's Nemo and Dori?
Watch out for the octopus! Summer had a great time squirting water from the animal. If you were not watching out you would get wet. What a surprise but Fun!!!!!
What a fun place. The Loraki Forest. The birds love to land on people especially if you had food. Bethany wasn't too sure but she did a great job.
Summer was not so sure about those birds!

Visit to Disneyland W/Bethany & Summer

One of the days that Beth and Summer were here we went to Disneyland.  Here we are when it was about time to sit down and take a rest. Its always nice to see the l
ands and rest your weary feet.
Summer got her face painted in the middle of the day. They did a very cute job on her face.  It lasted all day.
Bethany took Summer to Toon Town while Lynda and I sat and rested. They went to go see if Mickey and Minnie were at home. Micky was in!Summer got tired of wearing her hat so guess who got to wear it.  We ended up using that hat to find where Lynda and Beth were when they went on rides.

Nauvoo dresses & Emma for the Relief Society Birthday

For her mission to Nauvoo, Lynda had to make 5 dresses. Here are all the dresses she made. It took her a couple of weeks to finish them and she did a really nice job on each dress. They were not easy to make.

How can you not get a picture with the anklets and shoes. There always has to be a silly picture!

The Relief Society in our ward asked Lynda if she would do a little presentation on Emma. Lynda was very glad to do this as she loves Emma so much!
Here is Lynda with Mom at the Relief Soceity Birthday Party March 19, 2009.

Irish Festival (March)

A week before St. Patrick's day we went to an Irish Festival @ the Pomona Fairgrounds.  It was lot of fun. We watched dancers, looked at booths ate commonwealth food and listened to great bagpipes. Lynda just HAD to try on a kilt. Looks pretty good!!!!!

                                                             OOPS!!!
We both learned how to use a bow and arrow.  She has a picture of me trying it on her camera so when she sends me that picture I will put it on the website.  It was lots of fun!!!

Las Vegas Singles Conference (February 2009)

One day last January I told Lynda that I wanted to go to the singles conference in Las Vegas. They were going to have a lot of great speakers from Salt Lake and so Lynda and I decided to go.  We asked other single people in the ward if they wanted to go. As you can see a few did. From front to back and left to right. Lynda (Sumbot) Mackay, Kathy Olson, Elenore Gagliardi, Myra White and me Jody Sumbot.  It was raining really hard that day when we left so we took this picture of all of us in the washer room. There was a heavy rain until we got to the top of the Cajon Pass and then we had snow flurries which made us very excited. We were just as excited when it hit the ground and melted because as you know we are California girls and don't know how to drive in snowy roads.  Once we got to the desert we had no rain for the rest of the weekend. Whaoooo!
Our first stop in our conference trip was the Las Vegas Temple. This was one of the first activities that was available for those who attended the conference.  We were in the first session of the day for the singles conference. We  find out later that the conference planners had only set aside one session for the conference and ended up have to accommodate two more sessions because they had so many people show up to the temple. How great was that!
Here is Myra and I at the front door of the Temple. It was a lot colder than we expected. Lynda took the picture.
Once we completed our session at the temple we went and checked in at the condo. Lynda has timeshares and she offered for everyone to use it. So we did. It was nice because we could all chip in and pay a portion of the cleaning fee. So we only had to pay $12 for the whole weekend for a place to stay. Thanks Lynda! Your so generous!!
Here is Lynda racing through the hallway as we are getting ready to go to the conference.
Here is me just standing in the front room. To the right behind the double doors is my studio bed.   It was quit comfortable. The picture below is everyone at the dinner table eating.

On Friday and Saturday nights they had two dances going on. One for the old folk music and one for the young folk music.  Here's Lynda  dancing with Santa Clause. Now wait before you think of anything. He really was a Santa Clause that went around the country teaching people how to be Santa's.
Now if you didn't want to dance there were other activities that you could enjoy. Myra and I went to 10 questions.  It was kind of like musical chairs except when the music stopped you sat at the table with the numbered chair you ended up with. Then you asked questions and played get to know you games.  It was pretty fun. They also had Karaoke.  No one was as brave as Lynda.  We applauded her overwhelmingly!!!  Click on the movie and enjoy the fun!!!!!

During the day they had many workshops like Lis Lemon Swindle, Rick Mabery, a Sports Medicine Dr. , and many more.  These guys were chefs from one of the restaurants in Las Vegas. The showed us how to make truffles and some other fancy dishes.

Chiecko Okasaki spoke about being single as did Kristen Oaks. They were both very good and many of the singles could relate to their thoughts and feelings.

Kenneth Cope shared his music and thoughts
about the gospel and his work. It was a very
motivating and spiritual
talk.

Above decedents of the Hyrum Smith family came and  showed Hyrum Smiths cloths that he wore Carthage Jail.  They were handed down from generation to generation with the rule that these artifacts would stay with the direct Smith line and used to testify of Joseph and Hyrum's mission. As you can see there were many different things in the collection.  The box in the background once held the gold plates. It belonged to Alvin, Joseph's older brother.

Sunday was filled with many wonderful speakers. Sister Okasaki, Kenneth Cope, Kristen Oaks, The Smith Family, and Brothers who from Utah who swam the English channel and their spiritual experience in doing so. Here we are with the crowd. Kathy, Elenore, Lynda, Myra, (me) Jody.  We found out that at this conference they had the most people attend than any other time, 800 people! Wow!

We left for home on Monday. On our we stopped at Peggy Sues Diner, locate off the 15 hwy. Its always fun to stop at places like that with people who have never been there.  It is truly a 50's diner. The waitresses are dress in 50's waitress outfits and they have a bar you can sit at to eat. They also have a memorabilia store of 50' s movies, music, etc.

Check out these hats that Lynda and I tried on. I like the flowers that grow out of the hat. What do YOU think of the red Hat!

You can also buy ice cream there and that is just what we did. So enjoy the video and
have a peek of what Peggy Sue's Diner looks like.  May be you will stop next time you drive by.
